. . . and the songbook songs are . . .
It’s been a couple of weeks since I last wrote, and it’s high time I updated everyone on the progress of my new album, Cascadia!
The good news is that the album has now gone off to the presses, and with that done, I’ve shifted my focus to fulfilling rewards for our Kickstarter backers. Designing, calibrating colors, printing posters, scouring urban meadow and forest for the objects that will become the natural talismans… My 18 month old son, Ember, has been helpful with this, too. (But don’t worry, I won’t send you a lollipop stem, or some of the other things that are, to him, treasures. I exercise editorial power, always!
I’ve also finished tallying up the votes that will decide which songs will go in the new songbook made possible by our second stretch goal. (This is a second songbook, in addition to the one I’ve already created for Cascadia.) It was so interesting to see which songs were listeners’ favorites. Choices ranged from newer songs to ancient, near-forgotten ones, dating all the way back to my first record. Interestingly, when I tallied up ALL the votes, your list was not too different from what mine would have been:
So, the winners are, in order of popularity,
- Midsummer Night’s Dream
- Prayer for beauty
- Look Luck
- Ice Dragons
- Sea of Possibility
- Is the Spirit Here
Realistically, it will still be some time before I am able to start work on this songbook, but now that I have the list, I’m really looking forward to it! This songbook will be sent out to Kickstarter backers at all pledge levels, and may also be available through this site at a future time. I’ll let you know as that develops.
Again, I thank you, dear listeners, for your support of this project, and for taking this journey with me. I’m thrilled that the day draws ever closer when I’ll get to send you the completed CD.
In love and music,
