(St. John’s Pub) The singular force behind seeing the truly incredible guitarist Nels Cline, who’s playing in the Scott Amendola Band, is enough to cover the cash you’ll drop to get into this show. But add the chilling work of violinist Jenny Scheinman, saxophonist Eric Crystal, bassist Todd Sickafoose, and the interminable Scott Amendola on insane, avant-jazz drums, and you’ll be amazed that you’re in St. John’s, instead of some violently sophisticated European city. In addition, Noe Venable’s shivering, gravelly soprano and ghostly melodies are like poems and exorcisms. It’s like somebody declared it “Official Tzadik/Knitting Factory/JAM Week” in this town! WOO! --JS
