Cows milk themselves. And when you\u2019re hungry, pigs walk up to you, inquiring politely whether you&#8217;d like to eat them for dinner.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a sweet, old fashioned piece of <strong>musical satire<\/strong>\u2026 And it&#8217;s catchy enough to be one of my children&#8217;s <strong>most requested songs<\/strong> for dancing.<\/p>\n<p>On a lark, I rewrote the song <strong>to make it apply to motherhood<\/strong> in our city by the bay.<\/p>\n<p>Same idea, different context.<\/p>\n<p><strong>That\u2019s what I love about folk music.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Someone writes a song. If it\u2019s a good song, maybe it lasts. Over the decades, centuries even, singer after singer discovers it&#8230;. \u00a0Adding a verse here, taking one away there&#8230; \u00a0<strong>Folk music is a living tradition.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In this spirit, I offer my updated <strong>Oleanna<\/strong>,<strong> for\u00a0Mamas<\/strong> <strong>like me<\/strong>, who are\u00a0feeling more than a little exhausted now and then.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and one note about the video. You\u2019ll notice that Peregrine has a big scab on her nose.
