About the Album<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As you know if you\u2019ve been following me for a while, a little over a year ago, I created Meadowlark Music Class<\/a>, <\/strong>a nature inspired\u00a0music class<\/strong> for children and caregivers. \u00a0And, to go along with our in person meetings, I embarked on the wild experiment of trying to release a new album of family friendly music every three months. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Given that with my own singer songwriter music, it generally\u00a0takes me about five years<\/strong> to release an album, this idea seemed completely insane.<\/p>\n

SO insane that. . . \u00a0Well, I knew I had to try it. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

In this past year, I\u2019ve released albums for Spring, Summer, Fall, and now\u2026 \u00a0Winter!<\/p>\n

So this album marks a full rotation of the seasonal wheel.<\/p>\n

Alongside balancing work and motherhood, it hasn\u2019t always been easy to meet that goal of getting a new album out each season. \u00a0But I\u2019m so glad\u00a0I\u2019ve managed to do it.<\/p>\n

Why? \u00a0We learn through doing. \u00a0The more times we do something, the better we get. \u00a0With every album, I strive to raise the barre. \u00a0I’m always tweaking things, in search of that magical\u00a0right balance between \u201cfun for children<\/strong>\u201d and \u201cnourishing \/ meaningful\u00a0for parents<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

It’s been quite a learning process for me. \u00a0I remember\u00a0my first music class at Natural Resources, last fall. \u00a0From the moment I started to sing to those\u00a0sweet, tiny faces, I knew that I loved doing this<\/strong>. \u00a0But I was so new to children’s music, \u00a0I have to confess that at first I\u00a0really didn’t know what I was doing!<\/strong> \u00a0(I belong to the just dive in<\/strong> school of learning!)<\/p>\n

But over the months,\u00a0as I’ve kept experimenting, I’ve learned\u00a0so much about what engages children<\/strong> at this age, and about what they need in order to grow musically.<\/strong> \u00a0My greatest teachers have been my own children<\/strong>, as well as the children in my classes.<\/strong> \u00a0So to see Peregrine dancing gleefully<\/strong> to the songs on this album, and giggling in all the right places, <\/strong>I\u00a0feel so happy to see that this work is starting to\u00a0come to fruition.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll keep learning as I continue to grow with this process. \u00a0But I really do feel like this one represents a definite new level for me, in terms of writing, arranging, and production.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As with all the other albums, this one is home grown<\/strong>. \u00a0I recorded it in my home studio<\/strong>\u00a0and played<\/strong> all the instruments except violin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

…This while waiting for little feet to stop tromping<\/strong> upstairs, putting the cat out<\/strong> to stop him from meowing through the shaker track — you can imagine. A very humorous process<\/strong>, compared to the eons of pristine studio time I enjoyed back when I was a home recording artist pre kids! \u00a0(Fellow artist Mamas, I know you can relate!<\/strong> \u00a0Ha!)<\/p>\n

A lot of the songs on the album are original<\/strong>, some are traditional<\/strong> with lyrics I’ve either written or adapted, and a few are gems I’ve learned while teaching in Waldorf early childhood<\/strong> classrooms.<\/p>\n

Listeners to this album will also hear… \u00a0Peregrine’s first song!<\/strong> \u00a0Peregrine is my daughter, age two. \u00a0Her song “Little Kitty Meowing<\/strong>,” is about seven\u00a0seconds long, but it’s totally a\u00a0song! \u00a0It is tucked before track three, Hoosen Johnny<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I think you\u2019ll find this album sounds better (and LOUDER<\/strong>!). \u00a0This is really thanks to everyone who contributed financially last time, since those\u00a0contributions enabled me\u00a0to invest in an additional audio service<\/strong> that helps albums sound better on different speaker systems<\/strong>. \u00a0Thank you to all who helped make this possible!<\/strong><\/p>\n

But most of all, thanks\u00a0for being with me on this journey<\/strong>, whether as a family in my classes<\/strong>, a listener from another geographical area<\/strong>, or simply a supportive fellow parent in community.<\/strong><\/p>\n
